Donald J. Harrell was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1948.  Don is a principal and co-founder of the firm.  He is admitted to both the Florida Bar and the Pennsylvania Bar and has been practicing law since 1978 primarily in the areas of commercial law, business organization and transactions, estates and trusts, securities law, and tax law.  He also previously practiced for several years as a Certified Public Accountant.  Don received his B.A. from Westminster College in 1970, his C.P.A. from Pennsylvania in 1973, and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1978.  In addition to all Florida state courts, Don is admitted to the United States Tax Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Middle District of Florida and the Western District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and 5th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.  Don was with the national firm of Reed, Smith, Shaw & McClay in Pittsburgh for several years.  He was a principal in the law firm of Syprett, Meshad, Resnick & Lieb, P.A. prior to co-founding this firm.  Don is a member of the American, Florida, and Sarasota County Bar Associations.
